The hound trailing season is entering the final stages with three meetings left to go for championship deciders.

The Senior Championship remains close with Miterdale Shadow on 13 and Huntsman's Nimrod on 12 and the Puppy Championship is just as tight as Cracking Last One Two and Young Harry are on 11 wins each so it is sure to be a nail-biting few days for those owners waiting on results to decide their fate.

It has been a quite week trailing-wise as two venues have been cancelled due to adverse weather, with events off at Buttermere Show on Saturday and Latrigg on Monday.

However, racing did take place earlier in the week when a return to Buttermere last Tuesday evening saw Jonty and Evie Moore’s Crazy claim her seventh win of the season.

She beat home Brian and Erin Rowlandson and Joe Fearon’s Blue Blaze, with Jonty and Evie's other charge Escape in third.

The pups saw a battle go right down to the line with the verdict going to Denise Bland’s Jenny’s Quest ahead of Brian Graham and Julie Burkinshaw’s pair Young Harry and Bretton.

The open non-winners brought delight for Martin and Alison Langhorn as Bluebell beat in Jenny Horn’s Spring Music and Ellie and Grace Napier’s Huntsman's Prince.

Victor and Christine Brownlee's Marlou took the spoils in the open restricted ahead of Nicola and John Lyon’s Black Eyed Mist, with 2020 Veteran Champion Thorn Fire third for Martin and Molly Burrow and Joana Satterthwaite.

Thursday saw Whitehaven area close their 2020 season at Kirkland on what turned out to be a very wet night.

Seniors brought a comfortable win for Debbie, John, Christine and Lana McGee as Apache came home a distance ahead of Brian, Erin and Joe’s Blue Blaze and Jonty and Evie's Crazy in third.

The pup trail brought a head-to-head of championship contenders in what established into another close-fought finish with the narrow verdict going to Brian and Julie’s Young Harry with Bill, Pat, Robert and Tina’s Cracking Last One Two in second and Graham Reid’s Biff in third.

The open maidens brought delight for Robyn, Ellie and Grace Napier as Foxpark Jog On stormed home ahead of Jonty and Evie’s Escape with Duncan, Amy, Oliver and Eleanor Chisolme’s Fly Me To The Moon in third.
