The clinical combination of Ruben Jerome and Scott Allison can play a key role in Workington Reds’ season, Danny Grainger believes.

The pair of prolific forwards have already shown they can devastate the Northern Premier League North West Division’s defences, scoring 11 league goals between them this campaign.

And it is not just their consistent goal threat that has the Reds boss purring but how they have learned to play to each other’s strengths in such a short space of time.

“There are some very encouraging signs of how they are learning to play as a partnership,” Grainger said.

“Some of their link-ups and movement against Ossett were very good.

“I think they are only going to get better as a duo.”

Jerome was watched on Saturday by his father, who used to play for Ossett Albion. It was a merger of Albion and Ossett Town that formed the present club Ossett United.

Reds travel to Glossop North End on Saturday for the latest round of the FA Trophy.
