Grimsby Town 1 Carlisle United 1: A freak own-goal from Grimsby keeper James McKeown saw Carlisle United come from behind to extend their unbeaten run to five league games.

It was calamity for the home No1 in the first minute of the second half when he misjudged a backpass from Luke Waterfall and turned the ball into his own net.

The freak goal levelled the scores after Mattie Pollock's 25th-minute opener for the hosts.

And neither side could find a winner, despite United applying plenty of pressure at Blundell Park.

It meant a second 1-1 draw on the road in the space of five days for Chris Beech's side in a windswept contest.

Ian Holloway's hosts made the brighter start with Owen Windsor the first to test Aaron Hayden from the left, but Carlisle scrambled to safety.

The unchanged Blues could have gone ahead on 21 minutes when Lewis Alessandra did well on the left, but his cross was headed wide by Gime Toure from a good position.

United were getting on top but were punished when George Williams' corner from the left evaded defenders and Pollock struck a first-time shot past Paul Farman.

Toure and Alessandra had half chances as Carlisle applied more pressure the longer the first half went on, but United could not make the most of a string of set-piece opportunities.

A George Tanner free-kick drifted just over the bar before the break, while Jon Mellish went close, before United got their bonus equaliser straight after the restart.

Carlisle again had plenty of the play from there without carving out enough clear-cut chances, Toure often to the fore as he took on a series of Grimsby defenders.

Joshua Kayode couldn't make the most of a cross from the French attacker, while Toure was himself closed down when cutting in from the left.

Sub James Hanson failed to scramble in a chance from a home set-piece while United's further pressure, with Gavin Reilly on from the bench, couldn't carve out anything more than half-chances as they ended with a point, Carlisle dropping two places to seventh in League Two.

New signing Micah Obiero was with the squad but not included in the matchday 18 at Blundell Park, as Carlisle now prepare for Tuesday's visit of Morecambe.
