Cumbrian star Kyle Dempsey returned from injury to make only his third appearance of the season since being appointed Gillingham captain.
The former Carlisle United favourite started in the Gills' 2-0 League One defeat at MK Dons after more than a month out.
Maryport midfielder Dempsey returned from an ankle injury and put in a performance which impressed boss Steve Evans.
The 25-year-old former Blues academy player, though, was left limping after a challenge towards the end of the game at stadium mk.
“I thought he was the best player on the pitch until he got his knock,” Evans told Kent Online.
“He is a top player for this level and his performance stood out.
“The boy [from MK Dons] just blocked him. There was no intent.
“I am just hoping he is alright. It will be a couple of days before we know.”
Dempsey joined Gillingham in the summer after leaving Fleetwood and was swiftly appointed skipper by Evans.
The Kent outfit face Portsmouth tomorrow.
