Carlisle United loanee Marcus Dewhurst kept a clean sheet in a 45-minute outing for England's Under-20s.
The Sheffield United man played the second half as Lee Carsley's side beat Wales 2-0.
Dewhurst replaced Fulham's Luca Ashby-Hammond at the break in the game at St George's Park.
The 19-year-old was involved in an accidental late collision with Taylor Harwood-Bellis which saw the Manchester City man come off in stoppage time.
Jacob Ramsey and Xavier Amaechi scored England's goals in the first half.
There was another Carlisle connection in the game with the Welsh side coached by former Blues left-back Rob Edwards.
Striker Joshua Kayode, meanwhile, was an unused substitute as the Republic of Ireland's Under-21s were beaten 2-0 in Italy in their UEFA Under-21 qualifier.
Riccardo Sottil and Patrick Cutrone were on target for the hosts.
Both Dewhurst and Kayode could be back in the mix for Carlisle against Colchester this weekend.
