Carlisle United's next league opponents are also suffering injury problems of their own - with one former Blues man now a doubt for Saturday's clash.

Winger David Amoo limped out of Port Vale's EFL Trophy victory at Wigan.

Amoo, who played for the Cumbrians from 2013-15, lasted only seven minutes last night before going off with a hamstring problem.

James Gibbons later went off with a similar injury.

It could give manager-of-the-month contender John Askey a headache ahead of Carlisle's visit to Vale Park on Saturday.

A number of other former United men should, though, be in the frame to face their former club.

Experienced midfielder Luke Joyce is a likely starter with Mark Cullen and Harry McKirdy also in the Vale ranks.

Defender Shaun Brisley is their fifth former Blues player and he played the full 90 minutes of last night's 3-1 win, Cullen an unused sub and Joyce and McKirdy not involved as Askey made several changes.
