Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti says teenage Cumbrian star Jarrad Branthwaite is expected to be sidelined for three to five weeks.
The former Carlisle United defender suffered an ankle injury in Tuesday's Carabao Cup tie against Salford City.
Ancelotti, speaking at his press conference today, confirmed that the Wigton prospect did not need an operation on the injury.
But the talented youngster looks set to miss a month or so of action.
"He had a problem with his ankle," Ancelotti said.
"He is out for at least three to five weeks.
"He doesn't need surgery but he has to rest, at least one month."
Highly-rated Branthwaite suffered the injury in the first half of the 3-0 victory against Salford, having been handed his first start of the season for the Premier League side.
It was the 18-year-old's fifth first-team appearance for the Toffees after his move from Carlisle in January.
