Scunthorpe United have pledged to investigate "disgusting" comments made on social media about former Carlisle United man Olufela Olomola.

The ex-Blues loan striker used Twitter to highlight posts made on a Scunthorpe supporters' page on Facebook.

Olomola posted a screen shot of an exchange in which one person referred to the colour of his skin.

"From my own fans," the 22-year-old wrote as he highlighted comments which his club described as "disgusting".

Scunthorpe in a statement said: "Scunthorpe United has been made aware of comments made on social media this weekend. We stand with Olufela Olomola and anybody who has to suffer racism in any shape or form.

"They aren't views shared by the club, and we will investigate and deal with those responsible. There is no excuse or justification for this disgusting behaviour. Reporting of discrimination or inappropriate behaviours can be made by emailing feedback@scunthorpe-united.co.uk."

Olomola returned to the Glanford Park club after spending part of last season on loan with the Cumbrians, where he scored six goals in 33 appearances.
