Workington Reds have lined up three pre-season friendlies as they look to prepare for the new term.

The club has pencilled in games against Carlisle City, Penrith and Lancaster City, as Danny Grainger's side aim to start the new campaign with a bang.

A statement from the club said: "We are delighted to announce the first three first-team friendly fixtures of our pre-season this summer.

"Thanks to the Football Association outlining guidelines for grassroots football to return, we have pencilled in a trio of games to aid the first-team in their preparations for the new campaign.

"Danny Grainger’s squad are set for an exciting and diverse calendar over August and September to gear up for the start of the delayed 2020-21 term."

The first two games are set to be played behind closed doors with the first match being a trip to Carlisle City on Tuesday, August 4.

This will be followed up with a clash at the home of Penrith AFC on Saturday, August 8.

But there is some hope that the clash with Lancaster, set for Borough Park on Saturday, September, may be before supporters.

The statement on the club website added: "The visit of the Dolly Blues could be our first opportunity to welcome fans back to Borough Park. In due course, it will be subject to COVID-19 risk assessments and match being lodged with the Northern Premier League and FA.

"We hope to see you there but in the meantime, keep safe to help beat the virus."
