Carlisle United Official Supporters' Club is looking for new recruits off the back of their successful Covid-19 emergency fundraiser.

The supporters' club has launched an appeal for new members at a time when the Blues urgently need the backing of their fans.

And fans are on a mission to raise much-needed funds for Carlisle with their “REUnited” fund, while also bringing the fanbase together.

CUOSC chairman Frank Beattie said: “We want to be a voice for the fans, and the more members we have the bigger influence we can be.

“The REUnited campaign has shown how much the club means to supporters.

“We are aiming to re-energise, re-focus and re-unite fans for the benefit of the club and the community.”

CUOSC is asking United fans to join the supporters’ club or renew their membership to join forces during a difficult period.

A spokesperson said: “It costs £10 for adults and families for one year and £5 for seniors and Under 18s. Benefits include discounts at the club shop and priority for cup tickets.”

And the club is hoping to see new and returning members at its 2020 annual general meeting via the Zoom conference app on August 23.

The supporters’ club has shares in United and currently has 467 members with two representatives on the club’s board.

The Carlisle REUnited Fund has almost topped £6,500 in emergency funding for the Blues. Monthly contributions of £258 are yet to be added and a further £750 has been pledged by fans if classic match anthem ‘Looking Good’ hits a targeted 3,000 views on YouTube.

Fans can choose to pledge a donation when they play the song with a commitment to donate the funds if the song reaches its target.

Funds have been raised to maintain the club through an unprecedented time of financial hardship. With the 2019/2020 season abandoned, Carlisle United has lost a sizeable portion of income.

Play is likely to take place behind closed doors when the 2021 season first begins, removing the club’s biggest revenue streams – ticket sales and retail.

However fans have come to the side’s rescue by donating to the Carlisle REUnited Fund and saving the Blues £75,000 by not seeking refunds on 2019/2020 season ticket sales.

It is no surprise to CUOSC that fans have given the Blues support when they need it most.

A spokesperson said: “It shows how important the club is to the supporters. We realise it’s a difficult time for everybody, and what we’re doing is the best we can.
