Workington Reds have added another hitman to their attacking force for next season.

Striker Ruben Jerome is the latest new face to be added to the Borough Park ranks as manager Danny Grainger looks to put a squad together to fight for promotion when the new season gets under way.

Jerome, 25, has been around the Northern Premier League for some time and last season he was with one of Reds; biggest rivals and challengers Ramsbottom United.

He told the Reds website he was ambitious and wanted to help Reds achieve great things.

He said: "It happened last week – the club and Danny got in contact with me on separate occasions,” he said.

“They told me about their ambitions for next season – individually and for the team.

“Being an ambitious person, it’s something that’s right up my street; to come in and pick up where we left off last year.”

His goal in their January win over Reds was one of 16 strikes in 28 league appearances during the term.

And he will join fellow recent recruit Louis Potts competing for a spot in the forward line.

He added: “Some of my strengths would be my good work-rate, I can score but I’m a team player, really.

“I’ll just come in, whether I’m starting or not, and try to

believe in the boys to help us push on.”
