The Blues may not pick up any silverware this season but there is still a chance for the fans to do so – and on the hallowed Brunton Park pitch.

We are looking for supporters’ teams to enter the CUOSC Cup on Sunday, April 26, the day after our final game of the season against Stevenage.

It is a six-a-side competition open to everyone. The day will be a combination of adult men’s teams playing a tournament, and they will share the stage with an exhibition pitch for a range of supporters to celebrate the diverse fanbase at United.

You can sign up as a team for the tournament, as a diversity team for the exhibition pitch, or as an individual for the ‘subs bench’.

It costs £7.50 a player for the tournament with three games guaranteed in a World Cup-style format involving 20 teams. To take part on the exhibition pitch it will cost teams £5 a player.

Food and drink will be available and we are hoping family and friends will come along and make it a special day.

The tournament is being supported by the Football Supporters’ Association plus Kick it Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation. We want it to showcase players from Carlisle and Cumbria, women’s football, disability football, walking football, LGBT and BAME teams.

With the Blues now 17 points clear of the one relegation place the heat is off, but head coach Chris Beech will not accept any let-up in performance levels.

And with two home games coming up in four days we have a great chance to underline our recent improvement.

Let us hope for once we are not battling against stormy weather as well as the opposition when we take on Colchester on Saturday.

It will make a change to see football played in tolerable conditions. It should be a good game, with the Blues keen to avenge a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Us in December.

Next up, on Tuesday night is Newport. That will be another tough battle but with just one defeat in nine games we can go into both matches with confidence.
