Carlisle United's Nathan Thomas is in the running to be named League Two fans' player of the month.

The Blues forward is on a six-man shortlist for the PFA Bristol Street Motors award for January.

Thomas' place on the shortlist follows his brilliant hat-trick for the Cumbrians in their 4-1 win at Forest Green.

The Sheffield United loan man scored four in eight appearances during January, his other coming in the 4-3 FA Cup replay defeat to Cardiff.

One of 25-year-old Thomas's rivals for the award is a familiar figure to Blues fans.

Northampton's ex-Carlisle winger Nicky Adams is one of the contenders on the shortlist.

The other four in the running are Crawley striker Ollie Palmer, Exeter goalkeeper Jonny Maxted, Oldham winger Jonny Smith and Plymouth striker Luke Jephcott.
