Head coach Chris Beech will be hoping to hear that ‘Brunton roar’ again as he bids to register his first home league win on Saturday.

The Blues take on Walsall knowing three points could drag a few teams above them into the relegation scrap.

The fans were in full voice for last week’s cup clash with Cardiff and the coach and players will be hoping for the same again.

We are just four points above the one relegation spot but, on the other hand, a couple of wins could lift United into mid-table.

There has been a definite improvement since Beech took over at the end of November and he has been working hard this month to strengthen his side during the transfer window.

Beech has lost only three of his eight league games in charge but, sadly, wins have been in short supply.

Why not get yourself down to Brunton Park on Saturday? It’s a vital game and you could make the difference. After all, the fans are like a 12th man when they get behind the team.

Off the field CUOSC held their first board meeting of the year this week. We are considering extending the size of our board and are talking to people who may be interested in joining. We want to be as representative of the fans as possible.

We appreciate supporters want answers to the succession of ownership issues, and we are actively working to help find a way forward.

We have said for a long time that changes in the boardroom are required if United are to become a force to be reckoned with again. We want fans and directors pulling in the same direction.

You can call in to see CUOSC representatives at our supporters’ surgery on Saturday. It is held in the Study Centre, next to the club shop between 1.30 and 2.30pm.

We are also happy to take your questions to the club. Billy Atkinson is our representative on the club’s Holdings board and Jim Mitchell sits on the club’s 1921 operational board.

It costs £10 for an adult to join CUOSC for one year and £5 for seniors and Under-16s. For more information email info@cuosc.org.uk.
