Head coach Chris Beech said another “plate is spinning” in the transfer market with Carlisle United eyeing another signing.
The Blues boss said a fifth January addition was in his sights and that a deal could be "very close".
Beech also suggested he was being backed in the market by the club.
But he would not be fully drawn on how much of United’s proceeds from Jarrad Branthwaite’s sale had been made available to strengthen the squad.
He said: “I think the financial questions are to be directed at [director of football] David Holdsworth.
“Of course [we are] being supported, you can see new players here, that answers part of the question.
“The detail of the deals, it’s the football club’s business.”
