Head coach Chris Beech spoke of the tremendous unity between the team and the fans as the Blues earned an impressive FA Cup draw at Cardiff City.

More than 700 fans followed United to Wales and they never stopped shouting from start to finish as Carlisle gave one of their best performances of the season.

Let us hope it is the same again at Brunton Park both in Saturday’s league game against promotion-chasing Plymouth and next week’s third round replay.

The Blues have shown encouraging signs in recent weeks that they are turning the corner form-wise. And the fans can show we are all in it together by getting right behind them.

If that happens it is almost like United have an extra man – and Beech would be grateful for that in the next two matches.

When United entertained Wolves’ under-21s in the much-maligned EFL Trophy at Brunton Park in September, there were two teenagers on show destined to play a major part in the Blues’ future.

Defender Jarrad Branthwaite was making his first start for United and he has gone on to become the shining light in the team.

A host of big-name clubs have been scouting the 17-year-old and he has become the subject of much transfer speculation. It has been a pleasure to watch his progress and the fans don’t want him to leave. However, they accept a big money offer might prove irresistible – knowing that money would help secure United’s future.

The other teenager, 19-year-old Elliot Watt, was in the Wolves team and bossed the midfield in a 4-2 win.

He also looks destined for the top but, unlike Branthwaite, has no experience of League football. That’s why he has been allowed to join the Blues on loan. Judging by his performance against Cardiff at the weekend, he will be playing a leading role in our battle to retain our league status.

CUOSC will be holding our regular supporters’ surgery before Saturday’s home match. It is held in the Study Centre, next to the club shop between 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Why not call in for a chat?

Membership costs £10 for adults and £5 for seniors and under-16s. If you cannot make it you can contact us by email at info@cuosc.org.uk.
