ANNAN Athletic boss Peter Murphy will be hoping it’s third time lucky as his side prepare to entertain Edinburgh City tomorrow (3pm).

Annan, without several key players, lost out 4-0 to City in Scottish League Two in September, but came back from 3-0 down before losing 4-3 in the Scottish Cup last month.

“The players will take confidence from their performance in the cup,” said Murphy.

“We’re on a good little run at the moment, having won four of our last five league games, but if we’re not paying attention to detail, that run can come to an end.

“Edinburgh had a big budget and the side they have put together has been playing for a couple of seasons now.

“One player we’ll have to look out for is [ex-Annan striker] Blair Henderson who was the top goal-scorer in all divisions last season. But there are other players that could cause us problems.”

A Kyle Wilkie injury-time goal gave Annan a 2-1 win at Stenhousemuir last Saturday, following up their 6-1 hammering of Cove Rangers the previous weekend.

Edinburgh got the better of Cove, who are still top of the table, beating them 2-1 at home last Saturday.

Murphy’s men are the form team in Scottish Two. But he will be without keeper Kelby Mason and full-back Jamie Walker through injury tomorrow. However, the Annan boss insists he will still have a ‘relatively fit squad’.

Edinburgh sit in second place in the table, two points behind Cove, while Athletic are fourth, in a play-off place, six points ahead of Elgin City.

Seventeenth-placed Penrith travel to fifth-placed Billingham Town tomorrow in the Northern League Division One.

And fifth-placed Carlisle City entertain ninth-placed Newcastle University in Division Two.
