Cockermouth swimmer Luke Greenbank “felt amazing” after breaking a British short-course record which had stood for 10 years, on his way to European Short Course Swimming Championships bronze.
Greenbank picked up Great Britain’s first medal in the competition in the men’s 200m backstroke final in Glasgow after breaking the record in the semi-final.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: “I’m over the moon to come away with a medal.”
Greenbank was pipped by Poland’s Kawecki Radoslaw and Germany’s Christian Diener to gold and silver respectively.
He went on to finish fifth in the 100m backstroke final with a time of 50.39, missing out on another podium as Russia’s Kliment Kolesnikov took gold.
