Championship team Cardiff City await the winners of Carlisle United's FA Cup second-round replay against Forest Green.

The victors of the replay between the Blues and Forest Green will then travel to the Cardiff City Stadium in the next round, with the third-round ties scheduled to take place across the weekend of January 3 until January 6.

Cardiff, managed by Neil Harris, have ex-Carlisle striker Gary Madine and former Workington Reds man Will Vaulks among their ranks.

They are currently 10th in Championship league table and claimed a 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scoring the only goal of the match.

On Saturday, Nathan Thomas's double saw Carlisle draw their first match under Chris Beech in the FA Cup second round at Forest Green as they drew 2-2.

Aaron Collins and Matty Stevens were on target for Mark Cooper's side.

The replay is expected to take place next Tuesday, although this has not yet been confirmed.

Carlisle had earlier beaten National League South team Dulwich Hamlet 4-1 in a televised first-round tie.

The winner of United's second-round replay will get £54,000 in prize-money, while a further £135,000 will be on offer for the victor of the third-round ties.

With the draw being conducted by former Man City defender Micah Richards and Arsenal defender Tony Adams tonight on BBC Two, it also pitted Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton against each other.
