Carlisle Squash Club will tonight start their Appleton’s of Carlisle PSA event.

The action begins at the Warwick Road venue from 5.30pm this evening, before the tournament continues throughout tomorrow, with the final being held on Sunday.

Rory Stewart is the number one seed for the competition, with Julian Tomlinson the number two seed while a number of local players, including Carlisle’s own Adam Goad who is 17, will feature.

“There are 32 coming down to play, which is a good number,” said Dave Box, one of the club’s coaches.

“Appleton’s are sponsoring the event again, which is good.

"There are seven local players in there and the most striking of those, probably, is Adam Goad. He is doing well on the national scene at the moment.

"But as Adam has come through, it’s dragged some of the others through with him, which is great to see.

"It’s a 5.30pm start tonight and then the event runs through tomorrow.

"Then, the finals will be on Sunday.

"Hopefully, we will get good numbers down to watch."
