T’is the season for Awards Presentations and the BSPS 1B put on a great evening for its members and supporters.

Mollie Mae Jeffery won the 143 Open SHP, the 143 Open WHP, the Novice mixed height WHP, and the 143 Heritage WHP, then the Champion Heritage WHP and Champion Working Hunter Pony, rounded off an amazing evening with the Supreme Area Points 2019.

Lexi McSherry and Lucy Benson shared the Points Reserve. Lexi also won the Heritage Mountain and Moorland Ridden A and B, the Young Riders, the Novice Mountain and Moorland, and the Heritage section Championship.

On behalf of the BSPS, Ellen Jones presented Lexi with an Endeavour Award to recognise the courage she showed after losing her pony Marons Masterpiece.

Chloe Metcalf won the Cradle Stakes Award with Storm and the Overall Mini Championship. The two trophies were particularly special. One had been donated by Heather Metcalf and family many years before and the Silver Tray for the Cradle Stakes had been won by Chloe’s Uncle Will with Bracken Blue in 1992 and 1993.

Neive Chappelhow-Lacey and Santana won the Heritage Lead-Rein title then went on to be named Reserve Mini Champion.

Meanwhile, Neive’s mum Sue kept family honour high by taking second place in the 133cm Heritage WHP with Peepings Aragon. Sue says she’s super proud of Neive and both ponies.

In Dressage, the recent affiliated and unaffiliated show at Blackdyke saw wins for Holly Hudson and Giovanni 2 and Laura Whitfield riding Tatiana II in both the Preliminary P2-S and the Preliminary P19-S.

The Novice N23-S had wins for Kathryn Woolgar and I Am Legend, Ailsa Lorimer and Zambouckie and Francesca Weymouth with Boggy Jack. Ailsa and Francesca also had wins in the Novice N39-S.

The Elementary 45-W sections were won by Suey Browne and Josie II, Rose Foley and Cordici K and Joanne Bowness with Redcotts Splash. There were wins for Suey and Rose in the Elementary E53-S as well along with Liz Mather and Bravour.

In the unaffiliated section, Emma Little and Alecon won the Novice N23-S, Anne Cookson and Hattie took the Novice N39, Rebecca Ostle and Five Till Midnight won the Prelim P19, Amy Wybergh and Blue won the P2 and the Intro A (walk and trot) honours went to Carolyn Phillipson riding Blackdyke Magic.

Coming up this weekend – Newton Rigg has the latest Sparket Equestrian In-hand and Flat Show on Saturday, Blackdyke stages Cumbria Horse Trials Timber Trials on Sunday, Greenlands has Dressage on Friday evening, and Arena Eventing on both Saturday and Sunday.
