Workington Reds supporters will have the opportunity to meet the man who has guided their team to the top of the NPL North West Division on the eve of one of their biggest games of the season.

Manager Danny Grainger is set to headline a question-and-answer session in the Tony Hopper Bar at Borough Park tomorrow night (7pm start).

The former Carlisle United defender will be joined by his coaching staff – Steve Rudd and Gari Rowntree – for the event to talk about his adjustment since leaving the professional game in the summer, becoming a manager and how he feels the season has gone so far for Reds.

The night will serve as a warm-up for Reds’ mammoth clash with promotion rivals Marine at home the following day (3pm kick-off), which will see the league leaders take on the fourth-placed side in a bid to extend their lead over one of their fellow title challengers.

Workington have a four-point lead over Marine and are three points clear of Marske United and Clitheroe who are second and third respectively.

Since arriving following last season’s relegation, Grainger has steered Reds to 14 victories in all competitions, drawing four games and losing just three.

As well as topping the league table, the team have also progressed to the third round qualifying stage of the FA Trophy, the third round of the Cumberland Cup and the second round of the Integro League Cup.
