Workington Reds loanee Millenic Alli could make his debut for the club when they take on Windscale at Borough Park in the Cumberland Cup tonight (7.30pm kick-off).

The South Shields forward joined Danny Grainger’s side on an initial one-month loan on October 18 but has not yet made his first appearance, with both of Reds’ fixtures since his arrival having been postponed.

The tricky attacker, who has been praised by Grainger after impressing in training, is in line to get his first action tonight as supporters will finally be able to see what he is capable of.

Speaking to the club’s website, the Dubliner said he came to Workington in search of more playing time.

“South Shields put it out that I wanted a loan move and there was interest from Workington,” Alli said.

“The boys have been really welcoming; real nice guys.

“I’ve already spoken to a lot of them in the dressing room.

“They’re funny guys and it’s all been good.

“I’m looking to get as many games as I can, score goals and get a few assists as well.”

Following his signing from the Mariners, Grainger said: “He’s a player who will come in and excite people.

“He’s got some tricks and he’s very direct in what he does.

“There’s been a massive emphasis on Scotty [Allison] and the other lads so hopefully a fresh face will help to ease the pressure on them.”

Grainger is expected to name a much-changed line-up similar to the one which took on Moor Row in the first round, with young players again set to get their chance to impress as the Reds boss has frequently expressed his willingness to hand them opportunities whenever he is able to.

Defender Sam Smith, who was sidelined with an ankle injury but has been back in training recently, is another player who could come into the side for his first appearance since the trip to Clitheroe on September 24.

Windscale are led by player/manager Darren Donald, a former Reds Reserves player, and the squad includes several players who have featured for Reds’ second string.

The Wearside League team are currently bottom of the table.

Only the west side of Borough Park is set to be open for tonight’s game, with fans able to access the ground via the Social Club.

Meanwhile, Reds are set to learn their FA Trophy fate with a midweek enquiry by the Football Association after Saturday’s first round qualifying game against Brighouse Town was cancelled the night before due to an allegation that Brighouse included an ineligible player in their squad when they beat neighbours Tadcaster Albion 2-1 in the previous round.
