Head coach Al Tindall admits everyone at Carlisle Futsal Club cannot wait for the start of their 2019/20 season.

Tomorrow, Carlisle will kick-off their new campaign when they host Leeds Super Eagles Futsal Club. Having founded the club in 2012, Tindall hopes Carlisle can enjoy a fruitful campaign in National Futsal League’s Championship North.

“We have got Leeds this weekend,” said Tindall. “The boys are really looking forward to it, everyone is buzzing.”

Carlisle will be based at Penrith Leisure Centre, as well as the Sands Centre, this term.

"The Sands Centre is really hard to get hold of, so we are playing at the Penrith Leisure Centre, as well," explained Tindall.

"Everyone at the Penrith Leisure Centre has been brilliant. Finding a suitable facility in Cumbria, let alone Carlisle, has been really difficult.

"It [Penrith Leisure Centre] is one of the best facilities in the area, and they are going to put on a bit of an event for us. It should be really good."

Among Carlisle’s 12-man squad for their first match is Penrith AFC’s Ryan Errington, while former Gretna 2008 and Carlisle City footballer Tom Lucock will captain the side.

“We have had a couple of lads on holiday recently and a couple are injured. But we have an 18-man squad for the season and we have picked 12 from it for the first match of the season,” said Tindall.

"Even though we have played well in pre-season, it’s completely different when the league matches start."

Tindall added: "We have some really talented players, to be honest. A couple of lads have played for England at youth level.

"But, for us, the main aim is to finish in the top two and get into the play-offs. Then, we will play teams in the higher division, and hopefully, get promoted."

But firstly, Carlisle, who were involved in the Super League during the 2015/16 season, will need to focus on earning a result against Leeds, a side which Tindall concedes he knows little about.

“They are a new team. They don’t really have a social media presence, either," Tindall said.

"In Futsal, you have some clubs that are fairly well established and some that are just starting out.”

Tickets for the game can be purchased from Carlisle Futsal Club’s website.
