After a four-year association which has seen them land two British Superbike Championships, Langwathby-based Paul Bird Motorsport will conclude its partnership with sponsors Be Wiser Insurance at the end of the season.

The distinctive red branding with the owl logos has been synonymous with the Cumbrian team in British Superbikes, this year with Scott Redding and Josh Brookes on the Be Wiser Ducati Panigale V4Rs.

It also adorns the cars driven by teenage driver Frank Bird, Paul's son, in Formula Renault Eurocup and the Motorsport News MSVR Circuit Rally Championship.

Shane Byrne won back-to-back titles for the Be Wiser Ducati team at BSB in 2016 and 2017 while other successes include Glenn Irwin’s Superbike victories at both the North West 200 and the Macau Grand Prix during the tenure.

PBM team owner Paul Bird said: “It’s been a delight working with the team at Be Wiser Insurance over the past four years and we thank them for their support.

“Some of our greatest successes have been with Be Wiser as title sponsors and, while we are sad that they are no longer continuing their association, we understand the commercial reasons for their decision and wish them well for the future.

“It also allows the opportunity for another brand to become title sponsors, so our commercial team and partners are now working on that as a priority for 2020 and beyond.”
