Former England Under-20 striker Kwame Thomas is the latest trialist to link up with Carlisle United.

The ex-Derby, Coventry and Blackpool frontman, 23, joined up with Steven Pressley's squad today.

Thomas, who had an unsuccessful trial at Port Vale earlier in pre-season, is likely to figure in Saturday's home friendly against Fleetwood as he bids to impress.

United are giving the tall frontman an opportunity at a time they remain short of strikers.

Thomas was most recently with National League side Solihull Moors where he made 17 appearances last season without scoring, and getting four goals in 29 outings the previous campaign.

He spent the final weeks of last term on loan at Kidderminster, making five appearances without a goal in National League North.

Prior to that he had been on Coventry's books, making 15 appearances for the Sky Blues and scoring three goals.

He was loaned to Sutton United in his time with Coventry.

Thomas started out with Derby and had loan moves to Notts County and Blackpool.

Whilst on Derby's books he played for England at several age group levels including Under-20s under Aidy Boothroyd.

Thomas joins fellow trialist Aaron Hayden at Brunton Park after three other hopefuls - Isaac Buckley-Ricketts, Tyrone Duffus and Elliott Reeves - were released yesterday.
