Former Carlisle United coach Paul Murray has landed a job with another League Two club.

The Cumbrian has been appointed the new academy manager at Oldham Athletic.

The move sees Murray rejoin one of his former clubs, for whom he played from 2001-4 and also had a spell as first-team coach.

United parted company with the 42-year-old first-team coach at the end of last season, along with assistant boss Tommy Wright.

The pair had been brought in by former manager John Sheridan and continued to work under his successor Steven Pressley from January.

Carlisle-born Murray will now head up Oldham's youth set-up and said on the Latics' website: “I’m delighted to be back here at Boundary Park, it's a great club and I know what people expect around here.

"I can't wait to get started and meet the young players we have, it's important we try and develop these lads to be the best that they can be."

Murray, who had two playing spells at Carlisle, has also coached at Sheffield Wednesday and Fleetwood, as well as a short-lived spell as Hartlepool manager.

Wright, meanwhile, recently joined the coaching staff at Swindon.
