Kelvin Etuhu remains a “long-term” absentee at Carlisle as the injured midfielder starts his rehabilitation.
Etuhu, 31, has been sidelined since the final weeks of last season with a severe hamstring tear.
Carlisle at the time said he would miss the start of the new campaign and his comeback still appears some time away.
Assistant boss Gavin Skelton said: “He’s a little bit off yet. He’s just starting his rehab.
“You’re looking at long-term, rather than the near future.
“He’s around the club, he’s a good senior pro – good to have around the place and his experience is vital.
“But in terms of having him on the pitch, we’re maybe a little bit off with that one.”
Former Carlisle loan keeper Ben Amos, meanwhile, has signed a permanent deal with Charlton.
The 29-year-old, who enjoyed an exceptional loan spell at The Valley during the 2017/18 season, has signed a one-year deal with an option of a second year at Charlton.
“It feels great. It doesn’t really feel like I’ve been away to be honest,” he told The Addicks' website.
