St Benedict’s RUFC youngsters celebrated another successful season by handing out their annual awards.

Former Saints stars now at Workington Town, Jamie Doran and Gordon Maudling, returned to present the trophies, along with sponsor Michael McCarron.

The first night saw the under-8s/9s and 11s step up for their accolades, as follows:

U8s: Top try scorer McKenzie Jenkinson; most improved Joe Todhunter; man of steel Alfie Taylor; players’ player Aston Davies: supporters’ player of the year Aston Davies; coach’s player of the year William Miller; and best attitude Luca Fisher.

U9s: Top try scorer Kane Bailey; most improved Charlie Wood; man of steel Mathew Connelly; players’ player Ashton Hetherington; supporters’ player of the year Noah Canavan; coach’s player Harry Vaughan; best attitude Joel Clements.

U11s: Top try scorer Jack Carney; most improved Lewis Wood; man of steel Harrison Telford; players’ player Beau Heslop; supporters’ player Jackson Smith; coach’s player Rylan Templeton; best attitude Preston Molloy.

The following night it was the turn of the under-12s, 13s and 14s with the winners as follows:

U12s: Top try scorer Jaylan Conway; most improved Brady Clifford; man of steel Jackson Benn; players’ player Kier Starkie; supporters’ player Theo Crowe; coach’s player Tommy Adams.

U13s: Top try scorer Luca Hiddleston; most improved Keene Archer; man of steel Nathaniel Anderson; players’ player Tom McKinney; supporters’ player Luca Hiddleston; coach’s player Miller Dalton.

U14s: Top try scorer Logan Connor; most improved Keene Archer; man of steel James Stanaway; players’ player Ashton Sice; supporters’ player Sam Murtagh; coach’s player Billy Murray.

The Chris Pae Memorial Trophy for outstanding youth player went to Oscar Doran.

St Benedict’s reflected on a very successful year across all age groups culminating with the under-14s winning the County Cup.

The club also congratulated two of their under-14s Ashton Sice and Sam Murtagh on their scholarship with Wigan Warriors.

Training for all age groups will start again in mid-August, more details will be on the club website, Twitter and Facebook pages.
