Former Swindon and Partick Thistle striker Miles Storey is among four trialists currently with the Carlisle United squad.

The 25-year-old forward linked up with the Cumbrians for training today.

He joined fellow trialists Elliott Reeves, Tyrone Duffus and Michael Chambers who have been with United since the start of pre-season.

Striker Reeves is hoping to make the step-up from non-league having impressed with a 36-goal haul for Ilkeston last season.

Former Crystal Palace centre-half Chambers, 25, is also trying to make the breakthrough from non-league, having spent the last three years with Dulwich Hamlet.

Duffus, meanwhile, is available after leaving Cardiff at the end of last season. The 22-year-old former Everton prospect, whose brother Courtney plays for Yeovil, can operate in defence or midfield and has been on Carlisle's radar for some time.

Storey was released this summer by Partick, where he was a team-mate of United summer signing Christie Elliott.

The striker started with Swindon and had loan moves to Salisbury, Shrewsbury, Portsmouth, Newport and Inverness before permanent moves to Aberdeen and Partick.

United boss Steven Pressley said today: "I only ever take trialists if I feel they have a chance.

"These lads have an opportunity to train with us and show us what they can do.

"There are never any promises in these situations, there can't be - but they have integrated fully into the group and then it's over to them to show us what they are all about.

"The three last week played a full part in everything we did and they are back with us again this week.

"I then took a call about Miles on Sunday evening - he is a player we know so he has joined us this week.

"There are no guarantees, but they are enjoying it here and it's good to see the effort they are putting in."

It is expected that at least some of the trialists will feature in United's early friendlies. Their first pre-season game is against Hibernian next Tuesday.
