Carlisle United have refused to be drawn on reports forward Hallam Hope is a target for League Two rivals Swindon.

The Sun have today claimed that the County Ground club are trying to buy the 25-year-old.

Hope was Carlisle's top scorer last season with 15 goals and there has been speculation this summer about his future.

In response to today's reports, Carlisle said they do not comment on rumours.

United recently revealed that Hope's agent had told the club he wanted to play at the highest level possible.

But the Barbados international has not asked for a transfer, the Blues added.

On Hope, United's director of football David Holdsworth recently said: “Until we were in a position that we received a bid that was fitting – and that goes for every player, not just Hallam – we will make sure he is 100 per cent focused on returning to us in pre-season."

Hope is the latest player with Blues connections to be linked with the Robins this summer.

The County Ground outfit are understood to be among the clubs with a strong interest in out-of-contract midfield star Jamie Devitt.

Manager Richie Wellens is also said to be pursuing Rotherham's former United striker Jerry Yates, who is wanted for a second spell by Carlisle.
