Former Workington Reds joint boss Dave Hewson has linked up with Penrith AFC.

Hewson, who resigned at Borough Park in December 2018, has agreed to work with the Bonny Blues' current management team for the 2019/20 season as first-team coach.

In a club statement, Hewson said: "I have been very impressed with the work [manager] Andy Coyles has done in the short time he has been in charge.

"There is a positive mood around the club and a clear aim to take the club forward.

"I hope I can bring my experience in to further support Andy, Billy [Redden, assistant manager] and the players in having more success in the near future."

Once again, Penrith will ply their trade in Northern League, Division One next term, having had their place in the league confirmed by The FA last Sunday, despite finishing bottom last campaign.

The Bonny Blues have also reached three successive Cumberland Cup finals but lost in each occasion, being beaten 3-1 by Carlisle United in last month's latest final.
