Wath Brow Hornets eventually sealed a good 58-22 win in the Under-16 West Cumbria Youth League Cup after a bit of a fightback by Maryport early in the second half and move into the next round after a 58-22 victory.

Morgan Ackerly stole the show for the Brow as he ran in five tries. James Harrison crossed twice, with others coming from Owen Dobson, Ethan Clements and Ryan Lamb. Owen Thompson was in fine form with the boot, the scrum half landing nine conversions from 10 attempts.

Dalton put the frighteners on Millom to narrowly lose out in the 44-34 scoreline. Millom saw braces of touchdowns from Jack Newbegin, Rio McQuistan and Daniel Hartley, plus one from Braith Connor and Dylan Sweeney. Newbegin added six conversions, to put Millom into round two.

Kells U12s made the trip to Maryport where they comfortably moved into the second round of the League Cup after coming away with a 40-0 win.

Arben Pervizaj and Logan Milburn both crossed for a brace of tries, Danny Stables, Keenan Bowes, Billy Penrice and Kyle Sullivan also crossed the Port try line. Jack Scott landed four conversion attempts.

Maryport Under-13s moved into joint top of the table last Wednesday after a convincing 34-8 away win over Cockermouth Titans.

Charlie McCombe crossed for two tries for the Port, other touchdowns coming from Connor Birkett, Dylan Bragg who also landed three goals, Luke McKnight, Kian Jones and Louie Kirkbride. For the Titans Fintan Hedley and Leuan Jennings both picked up a try apiece.

Also on Wednesday Egremont Rangers secured another win to keep them in fourth spot after picking up the points at Lowca when defeating the host side by 34-12.

Ashton Briscoe crossed the Rangers whitewash on two occasions for Lowca, Robbie Park adding the extras to both tries. In reply for Egremont, Ellis McGonagle bagged a hat-trick of touchdowns and there were also tries from Sam Dixon, Craig Birket, Henry Brown and Sam Williams. Kaiden Block slotted over three conversions.

Hensingham U13s claimed top spot, but on points difference only from Maryport, after their decisive victory over Kells 26-14. Luca Hiddleston, Ben Wren, Miller Dalton, Romeo Park and Tom McKinney were the try scorers for Hensingham, with McKinney adding three conversions. Kells replied with tries from Jamie Jennings, Spike Canavan and Harley Nelson, plus a Nelson conversion.

Harvey Irving with three and one apiece from Kian Murphy, Brad Fagan and Blaine Stansfield were the Dalton try scorers, with Irving having a good day with the boot for he also landed five conversions. Millom replied with braces of touchdowns from Jack Newbegin, Rio McQuistan and Daniel Hartley, plus one from Braith Connor and Dylan Sweeney. Newbegin also in good form with the boot when landing six conversions, to put Millom into round two.
