Maryport Labour Club are the new Workington Sunday League Division One Divisional Cup champions after they defeated Salterbeck in an exciting final.

The clash drew a crowd of around 150 at Borough Park in the sunshine for what could be the last ever Sunday League game on the grass pitch.

Labour Club powered their way to a 3-0 victory at the final whistle but Salterbeck did not lay down and they fought hard to stay in the game, the final touch just letting them down.

James Penman led the way for Labour Club with a brace of goals, with Gavin Graham also finding the back of the net.

The Premier League Divisional Cup finalists were decided with Pack Horse and Northside getting through their respective semi-finals. They will now meet this Sunday for the final, at Welfare Ground, Grasslot, Maryport, kicking off at 2pm.

Pack Horse beat Sun Inn 2-0 in the first semi, thanks to goals from Liam McCullough and Connor Hammell.

Two goals from Jamie Bramley helped Northside to a 4-0 win against Deer Orchard, with Kurt Scott and Jamie Glover also scoring.

There was also one game played last Thursday night as Pack Horse beat Waverley 4-1 with two goals from Tommy Whitehead and one apiece for Scott Whitehead and Jono McAllister.

Tuesday night saw two premier league games played with an 8-1 victory for Northside over Waverley, meaning the title is still up for grabs.

Both Pack Horse and Northside could still take the league, with the clash between the two sides on May 26 at Curwen Park looking like the decider, ko 2pm.

Against Waverley, Callum Killick hit a hat-trick for Northside, with braces from Gareth O’Leary and Jamie Bramley, plus one from John Price. Waverley’s lone goal came courtesy of Dean Anderson.

The other game saw Deer Orchard get the better of Dearham 6-2 with a hat-trick from Luke Graham. Rob Cox, Kyran Bertam and Lewis Horsley also found the back of the net.

Dylan Elsworth and Brad Petre replied for Dearham.
