Talented teenage Border City ABC fighter Jack Turnbull has had his place at the EUBC European Junior Boxing Championships confirmed.
Turnbull will now begin to prepare for the tournament which will be held in Romania in late May where Turnbull has been included in the 80kg category.
It comes after the Carlisle clubman, 15, beat Scarborough ABC’s Reece Harris-Mann in the 75-80kg category in the England Boxing Junior National Final last month in Rotherham.
He had reached the final last year but then lost to Repton’s Joe Cooper.
“Jack has got a busy schedule as he boxes in the Three Nations for England as he aims to be crowned British champion, then heads to Romania for the Europeans after that,” said Ian Archibald, one of the coaches at the club.
“What an achievement by the Border City boxer.
“Jack is a talent and he has a style to beat anyone on his day.
“Everyone at the club is buzzing for him.”
Turnbull is Border City’s third national champion, with both Brodie Stephenson and James Rowland having won titles in 2016 for the club which only opened its door a year earlier.
City will hold their next home show on May 17 at the Crown and Mitre Hotel. Details are available from the club's Facebook page.
