WORKINGTON Town will be doing it the hard way when they take on London Skolars today (12.15pm kick-off), insists assistant coach Craig McDowell.
Injuries in the early stages of the season have meant that several players have already played a lot of minutes.
That means head coach Leon Pryce could decide to reshuffle his pack for the trip to the capital city, with McDowell suggesting dual-registration players could be brought in to help lighten the load. The Town assistant believes that could make life tougher but said it will be just another challenge for them to face.
“We’re going down there doing it tough but we want to give a good account of ourselves,” he said.
“We ended up with 14 fit for Siddal and we had 16 fit at the weekend so it’s been a massive test of character for our boys already and it’s one that we’re happy to have passed. We will deal with it.”
Victory could see Town move level on points with league leaders Hunslet, who face Whitehaven.
“There’s a tough game going on this weekend at the Recreation Ground between Whitehaven and Hunslet which could have a say in where we end up by the end of the weekend,” he added. “It’s a really tough league at this moment in time.”
The game is part of a double-header, with Championship teams Toronto Wolfpack and Sheffield Eagles set to face off after the Town match.
