Workington Town have tied down Elliott Miller for another three years.

Miller had spent six years with Town before leaving to join Cumbrian neighbours and League One rivals Whitehaven in 2015.

He returned to Derwent Park last season, signing a two-year deal, and has impressed since then, both with his performances on the pitch and his leadership.

The club’s board of directors have rewarded him for these displays with a new contract which will run until the end of the 2022 season.

Now, he is keen to kick on and help the club achieve its goal of promotion back to the Championship.

Miller said: “I’m happy to sign for a further three years and commit to a club that I enjoy playing for.

“I like playing in front of the fans we have and feel like the club is going places.

“I’m enjoying playing under Leon Pryce, learning from him each week and making the move to centre. I love playing there.

“The team we have now is built on a good team spirit with a good bunch of lads.

“Hopefully, I can stay fit and play for many more years for this club.

“I’d like to thank the board of directors for the backing they have given me and the job they are doing to get the club back to where it needs to be.

“I hope we can finish this year with promotion after a really good season last year where we were unlucky not to get over the line.”

Miller originally joined Town from Millom ARL after a brief spell with Hull FC.

He has become a regular try-scorer for the club since his arrival and has notched four in five appearances so far this season.

Last season, he crossed the whitewash 16 times in 24 appearances and his 114 appearances for the club have yielded 83 tries and one goal in total.

Head coach Pryce added: “We’re delighted to get Elliott tied down to the club.

“In my time at Workington, he has been the model professional and consistently one of our best performers week in, week out.

“He’s a great character and is always centre of the craic with his infectious laugh.”

Town are due to travel to the capital this weekend to play London Skolars in League One action on Saturday, before a trip to tackle Super League’s Leeds Rhinos in the Challenge Cup fifth round on Friday, April 12.
