Teenage Border City ABC fighter Jack Turnbull is set to travel to Rotherham to box in a national boxing final.

Competing in the 75-80kg category in the England Boxing Junior National Final, the Carlisle club fighter will face Yorkshire champion Reece Harris-Mann, of Scarborough ABC, at the Magna Science Adventure Centre this weekend.

A win on Sunday would see Turnbull crowned national champion and go on to represent England at the GB Schools Three Nations.

Last year, Turnbull reached the final but then lost to Repton’s Joe Cooper.

Three-time North West champion Turnbull beat four-time national champion and European silver medallist Kyle Parr to claim his third regional crown.

“Jack has been working hard in the build-up to the fight, getting his road work in as well as sparring with senior club-mates and holding his own,” said Border City coach Ian Archibald.

“Considering he is only 15 years old, the club has good numbers travelling down to Rotherham on Sunday to cheer him on.

“We are all hoping that he can get the result and be crowned England national champion.”
