Carlisle United will tonight bid to reach the Cumberland Cup final for the first time in four years.

A Blues side comprised of young players and a handful of senior men face Bransty Rangers in their semi-final.

Experienced midfielder Jason Kennedy is likely to be involved as he continues to build up his match fitness.

Second-choice keeper Louis Gray, who has so far captained United in the competition, will also be expected to play.

It could also see an opportunity for new pro Jarrad Branthwaire, 16, who recently signed senior terms at Brunton Park was on the first-team bench at Forest Green on Saturday.

Carlisle boss Steven Pressley confirmed it would be a mostly young United side - "and probably the likes of JK, who desperately needs games".

United have so far beaten Workington Reds, Pirelli and holders Cleator Moor Celtic to reach the last four.

West Cumbrian outfit Bransty, meanwhile, are in the semi-finals for the first time after an impressive 5-1 win over Netherhall in the last eight.

They play in Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League Division One.

The other semi-final will be contested by Wigton Harriers and Penrith this Saturday, after the original fixture was postponed last weekend.

The final will be held at Brunton Park on Tuesday, April 30.

*Tonight's Carlilsle v Bransty game is at Penrith's Frenchfield Park, kick-off 7.30pm.
