Flimby are looking to go unbeaten in the JJ’s Workington Pool League’s B division after defeating nearest rivals Railway.

The promotion challenges met in Workington and it was Flimby who dominated the singles to take a 5-1 unassailable lead, with Shane Evitts securing the match-winning frame although Railway won two doubles frames to make the scoreline more respectable in a 6-3 final result.

Graeme Scott secured wins in his singles and doubles matches for JJ’s B as they kept up their promotion push with a 6-3 victory over Henry’s.

Miners moved into the top four as they defeated Packhorse B 5-4 when, with their opponents on the hill needing a frame for victory, Miners dug deep to level the tie 4-4 before a decider went their way.

Vinnie’s are enjoying their best season and victory over the WashHouse Miners has them within touching distance of the top four. Scott Benson starred as he won both his singles and doubles frames in a 5-4 win.

In the A league Station Road D closed on leaders Senhouse Street as they dispatched Harrington Legion 7-2. With Senhouse Street not playing, Station Road cut the deficit to two points as captain Steven Cook led his team to victory.

JJ’s A put last week’s defeat behind them against Grapes A, with Bruce Denwood winning the initial frame before JJ’s dominated the remaining games and Dean Adams secured the sixth to seal an 8-1 win.

Station Road B surprised in-form Lifeboat 5-4 for their second win, denting Lifeboat’s title hopes but giving Station Road a chance to avoid relegation.

Vets and Station Road C have improved over recent weeks and faced off, with David Bateman and Steven Potts helping the visitors to a 4-2 lead and they dominated the doubles for a 7-2 Station Road win to take them up to fifth.
