Manager Steven Pressley will give Kingsley Eshun and two other trialists extra time to impress at Carlisle United.

Former QPR striker Eshun has been training with United this week after scoring in a reserve friendly at Oldham.

Pressley also revealed today that two other unnamed players had been with the squad.

United’s boss said he will not rush into decisions on any of the players.

He said: “We’ve actually had three in this week and he [Eshun] is one of them, the other two have been involved in training.

“The truth is it’s still early days and we need to see more of them.

“Some of them are not with a view to this season, just to cast our eye on them and be also thinking about the future.

“I think we’ve seen enough [of Eshun] to suggest he’s worth looking at, but there’ll be no imminent decision on any of them. We will monitor them.

“They may come back next week, train for a few days and take part in a game.”

Pressley said United had arranged another reserve friendly at Sunderland for next Tuesday.

On the two other trialists, he added: “One’s still with a club – they gave us permission to have a look at him – and the other one is without a club.

“We’ve got a game next Tuesday at Sunderland, and I’ll assess.

“For me they’ve got to make an impression and be better than what we have, or be able in my opinion to make a real contribution between now and the end of the season.

“I said not too long ago that I was really happy with the group and that remains the same. It would have to be somebody I felt could make a real impact for me to make that decision.”
