Carlisle United frontman Hallam Hope’s fine form in January has put him in line for an award.

The Blues striker has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League Two player of the month prize.

Hope is in the running after firing three goals and claiming an assist in Carlisle’s impressive start to 2019.

The ex-Bury man struck twice against Mansfield and once against Cheltenham, taking his tally to nine for the season.

The judges’ citation on the Barbados international reads: “Carlisle’s surge up the League Two table can be attributed in large part to Hope’s stellar form.

“Mobile and quick, he possesses the attributes defenders hate, cutting in from the left. Scored three goals and claimed an assist.”

Hope is up against Forest Green striker Christian Doidge, Yeovil defender Tom James and Bury midfielder Jay O’Shea.

Manager of the month nominations in United’s division, meanwhile, are Crewe’s David Artell, Mansfield’s David Flitcroft, Lincoln’s Danny Cowley and Bury’s Ryan Lowe.

The winners will be announced on Friday.

If Hope is successful it would be a second straight monthly award for Carlisle, after skipper Danny Grainger took the December gong.
