The awards for the Wigton Motor Club’s Protyre Historic and Targa Rally Challenges will be handed out at the prestigious awards dinner at the Skiddaw Hotel, Keswick on February 2.

The overall winners of the Historic Rally section were David Short and Roy Heath in a Ford Escort. There was a tie for second between David Marsden (Escort) and John Sloan (MG Midget). Marian Sloan was second navigator and Mike Garstang third.

In class H1 for the older cars, David and Callum Alexander won in their Vauxhall and H2 was taken by the Porsche 911 of David Agnew and Alan Jackson.

The Post Historics up to 1300cc class was won by Tot Dixon and P2 by Charles Graves/Ron Palmer (Escort RS2000).

Malcolm McKay (Mini) tied with David Garstang (Mini Cooper) in the C1 Classics class with Heidi Garstang (Mini Cooper) as the lead navigator. Mike Kirk was the top driver in C2.

The Targa classes for modern cars saw Phil Hodgson and Ian Giles win in their Mazda MX5 from Quentin James and Tom Howe in a Citroen. Geoff and Maggy Bateman were third overall. Chris Hunter was equal third.

Helen Harkness and Barry Lindsay won class T1 in a Corsa and Robert Short and Fiona Tyson won class T2.
