Workington Town are inviting fans down to the club on the eve of the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy to take a look at the new squad.

Town will go into battle with neighbours Whitehaven on Sunday at Derwent Park, 3pm ko, with the trophy in memory of the late, great GB winger Ike Southward at stake. But first, on Saturday, the club is holding it’s season launch day at the ground.

The event will be preceded by an open ‘Captain’s Run’ training session at 10am where you can watch the 2019 first team squad undergo their final preparations for the match against Haven.

The players, including new signings and established stars, and staff will then get a new team photograph and head and shoulders shots taken at 11.15am before food will be available.

The players and staff will be catered for by the Ladies Commitee while sponsors and supporters will be catered for by the Travellers Rest Supporters Club committee with their traditional sausage sizzle.

And from noon, directors, coaching staff, players and staff will be present for the playing shirt presentation in the Gus Risman Bar.

Stephen Calvin from main club sponsor Myers and Bowman Toyota will present the players with their 2019 playing shirt. And organisers are hoping that fans will go along and support the special day as the 2019 season draws ever closer.
