Vital Evo-Stik Northern Premier League points are off the menu for Workington Reds this Saturday.

Instead, Dave Hewson and Lee Andrews will be challenging their team to continue their money-spinning efforts in the FA Trophy.

Reds have earned £12,250 from three victories in this season’s competitions - as many wins as they’ve had in the league. There’s another £6,000 on offer when Reds host a Ramsbottom side going well in Evo-Stik Division One West, currently lying seventh.

They won 2-0 at Kidsgrove Athletic on Saturday, bouncing back from a 3-2 home defeat to league leaders Runcorn Linnets - their first reversal in 12 games.

That defeat, predictably perhaps, came as they had been announced as the Evo-Stik One West team of the month for November.

Reds joint boss Hewson said: "We will pick ourselves up from Saturday and focus on the Trophy.

"It’s one we are determined to win and make progress [in]. But it won’t be an easy one.

"We have a lot of respect for Ramsbottom and how they have been going this season and they are a good side.

"But as I have said many times, it’s mostly about ourselves and how we perform on the day. We know that we are more than capable of beating any team at our level.

"We do need points more than performances, but we have been pleased with the way we have played in the last three games. We want to keep that going but get the results as well."
