Director of football David Holdsworth says Carlisle boss John Sheridan will get all the support possible when it comes to making the most of the winter transfer window.

United are heading towards a key period with the future of several players on the line.

That includes four loanees plus others whose short-term deals will be up at the turn of the year.

Holdsworth said United are planning for a range of situations and also said the club would like to bolster their squad when the window opens.

He told the News & Star: “We are well aware of what the future holds and John is in discussions regarding all the situations.

“I will also be in discussions with the [loan players’ parent] clubs going forward as we look to give John the answers he is looking for in the window.

“We would like to add if we can. We will give John all the support we can give regarding the existing squad and future targets.”

Sheridan has said he will be addressing the future of all the players concerned in the coming weeks.
