Workington Reds have important league business this afternoon in what’s already being billed as a six pointer.

Grantham Town, who have been in free-fall without a win since September 29, visit Borough Park (3pm kick-off).

Reds themselves go even further back, to September 1, since their last league success but they’ve had four FA Cup and FA Trophy wins since then.

"Obviously, it’s a key game for both teams and we were certainly boosted by our performance and win in midweek," said Reds joint manager Lee Andrews.

"We want to carry that forward into the Grantham game and start to make progress up the table."

Reds will have to go into the game without defender Dan Wordsworth who will be serving a one-match ban for an accumulation of bookings.

His place in defence will go to either Sam Smith and Josh Calvert, who both got a taste of the action in the 5-0 win over Newcastle Town on Tuesday.

Smith had been sidelined since August when he picked up a knee injury at Stalybridge Celtic.

Calvert was having his first run-out since a hernia operation last month.

The Gingerbreads travel north winless since the end of September when they beat Whitby Town 3-2 at home.

That run has seen Town drop to 16th in the table and only three points above the relegation zone.

Before having no game, the last fixture Grantham played was a 2-0 defeat at home to Warrington Town when two late goals were enough to consign Grantham to defeat.

Reds are eight points behind Grantham but they do have two games in hand so a win today would be vitally important.

Danny Durkin could make his second debut after re-signing earlier in the week from Deeping Rangers. Defender Charlie Ward - who is the brother of current Grantham player Tom Ward - could also make his debut after signing this week.

Tom Batchelor is joined by Tom Ward and Ryan Oliver on the treatment table while Josh Spencer is unavailable.
