A superb 2018 campaign for all of Carlisle Cricket Club’s senior sides has been recognised at both the North Lancs and Cumbria, and Eden Valley Cricket League end-of-season presentations.

On Saturday, opener Tom Benn was presented with the top run-scorer and Premier Division Player of the Year trophies by former New Zealand international Jeremy Coney at the North Lancs and Cumbria League dinner in Barrow.

Then, at the Eden Valley Cricket League awards night on Monday, second-team skipper Olly Bradley collected the Eden Valley Premier Division and Senior Cup trophies, while Andrew Trickett was named Premier Division Wicket-keeper of the Year.

In the Sunday League, spinner Sonu Kumar won gongs for leading wicket-taker and best bowling averages after Carlisle’s Academy team came second in the league.

Secretary Mark Davidson was delighted to see the success of all of Carlisle’s sides highlighted at both presentation evenings.

And the Edenside outfit are now looking to the future, planning for their 2019 campaign, with James Bell having been re-appointed as director of coaching as Carlisle continue to develop players through their thriving youth section.

Davidson said: "We had both Henry Walker and Jonathan Davidson with Leicestershire over the summer and now young Stan McAlindon is heading out to the UAE in December with Durham Academy to play in the Gulf Cup which is a fantastic achievement.

"We have juniors who have been representing area and county squads throughout the summer and our own senior teams are packed with home-grown talent.

"The club takes great pride in the success of the junior development programme and is indebted to the outstanding coaching team at Edenside."

Carlisle are also hopeful of naming their professional for next year in the near future.
