Penrith-born Will Addison has been named in the 42-man Ireland squad for the four-Test November international series.

Utility back Addison, who qualifies thanks to his Fermanagh-born mother, has impressed since making the switch to Ulster from Sale Sharks this summer.

Ross Byrne, who was an uncapped member of the Ireland Summer tour squad to Australia, is another of the uncapped players included while Munster's Sam Arnold completes the trio.

"As always, there have been a number of close calls in selection, meaning that some very good players have missed out in this particular window," said head coach Joe Schmidt to Irish Rugby's website.

"The upcoming Guinness Series offers an exciting opportunity for the squad but will also be very challenging.

"We are certainly looking forward to getting back to a packed Aviva Stadium with the fantastic support that we get there."

Ireland play Italy in Chicago then host Argentina, New Zealand and the USA.

Addison, 26, has trained with the Ireland squad before, having linked-up with them for training in Melbourne in the summer.
