The hard work starts now for new Carlisle United pro Liam McCarron, says boss John Sheridan.
The 17-year-old signed his first professional terms before Saturday's game.
Sheridan said of the Appleby youngster's 18-month deal: "We are covering ourselves, he's a good player, we think he's got a bright future and it's good for the club.
"It's down to Liam now. Just because he's signed pro doesn't mean he's done anything yet.
"He's got a lot of hard work ahead of him."
McCarron came off the bench for his third senior appearance in the second half against Stevenage.
Sheridan added: "It's all experience for him. He's got good things in his game and when he came on he looked alright."
McCarron was joined by mum Sarah, dad Steve and brother Ryan as he signed his contract on the pitch on Saturday, with academy coach Gavin Skelton, chairman Andrew Jenkins and manager Sheridan also present.
